Shagg combines classic R&B and soul with award-winning pop/rock songwriting. Buh Ba Ba Ba is their first full-length release. The goal was to make a record that captured the band's energetic live sound, with a minimum of overdubbing. Three days in the studio yielded 12 songs ranging from the exuberant funk of the title track to the aching "Shade of Melancholy."

Producer Joe Chiccarelli (Frank Zappa, Tori Amos, Beck, U2, Counting Crows, Etta James) said, "the groove was great and the overall vibe of it was really cool ... a little bit of Neville Brothers or Los Lobos or maybe even Latin Playboys."

A few career highlights:

• Demo versions of the songs "Shade of Melancholy" and "Just Ain't Enough" were finalists in the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Contest
  
• The editors of CMJ selected Shagg to compete for the 2003 Coca-Cola New Music Award, which for two years was the unsigned artist category of the American Music Awards
  
• In 2006, the editors and fans of mtvU chose Shagg to compete for a recording deal with Definitive Jux Records
